In the account of Pentecost (Acts 2:1—4), flames descend upon the disciples, signifying the presence of the Holy Spirit. This fiery manifestation symbolises the power and purifying nature of the Spirit, empowering the disciples to spread the message of Christ with boldness and clarity.

Furthermore, fire often represents divine guidance and illumination. Just as fire provides light in the darkness, the Holy Spirit enlightens believers, guiding them in truth and understanding. This transformative aspect of fire mirrors the spiritual renewal experienced by the disciples at Pentecost, equipping them for their mission.

The Mighty Wind: Wind as a Symbol of Divine Movement

Wind, another powerful symbol in Pentecost, signifies the movement and presence of the Spirit. In Acts 2:5—11, people from various nations hear the disciples speaking in their languages, highlighting the universal scope of the Gospel message.
