Muslim Couple Arrested for Converting Christian Youth
Police arrested a Muslim couple who hid their identity to convert a Christian young man to Islam.

On September 17, 2023, police in Shamli, Uttar Pradesh, India, arrested a couple for allegedly trying to convert a Christian youth to Islam. The couple, Shaukeen and his wife Kamarbatun, met the youth, Sooraj, through an online game. Kamarbatun posed as a Christian and convinced Sooraj to visit her in Delhi.
Once Sooraj arrived in Delhi, Shaukeen and Kamarbatun introduced him to an unknown person who tried to persuade him to convert to Islam. They also taught Sooraj how to pray in the Islamic way and changed his name to Asad.
Sooraj became suspicious after seeing Kamarbatun's Aadhaar card, which showed her real name and religion. He informed the police, who arrested Shaukeen and Kamarbatun. During interrogation, Kamarbatun admitted that she was Shaukeen's wife.
The police believe that the couple intentionally concealed their relationship and deceived Sooraj in order to convert him to Islam.
