“Of old you laid the foundation of the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands. They will perish, but you will remain; they will all wear out like a garment (Psa 102:25—27).

“Of old you laid the foundation of the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands. They will perish, but you will remain; they will all wear out like a garment. You will change them like a robe, and they will pass away, but you are the same, and your years have no end” (Psalm 102:25—27).
An affluent medical doctor invested much of his savings in a foreign country when its government liberalised its economy to attract foreign investment. Things went well for this investor until a regime change following a military coup nationalised all foreign investment. The investors lost their rights and were barred from travelling to that country.
Changes in government, officers, ownership, and so on affect our future. Share prices dip or surge due to changes in company management, while shifts in national policies may impact our freedom and lifestyle, indicating that the world is unstable.
This passage of scripture affirms that even the sky that has been over Earth from time immemorial is not permanent. Eternal God spread it over us, and he will also remove it. Scientists agree that all planets have an end, including our blue planet.
However, the eternal God is the only constant in this world of instability and uncertainty. The psalmist affirms, “They will perish, but you (God) will remain.” He further declares that God has no change or end: “But you are the same, and your years have no end.”
The eternity of God means he is reliable in all circumstances. Jobs, finances, health, relationships, and all we take for granted are transient. Those who bet on them will be disappointed, but those who have their life in the hands of the eternal God will succeed.
In a world full of uncertainty, take a moment today to examine what you’re trusting for stability—finances, career, or relationships. Make a conscious decision to shift your trust to God, who never changes. Spend time in prayer, surrendering your worries and future to him, then write down a specific area where you will rely on God’s unchanging faithfulness this week. Let the eternal God be your anchor, regardless of the changes around you.
“Those who trust in the LORD are like Mount Zion, which cannot be moved, but abides forever” (Psa 125:1).
