Be Ready for His Return
“You also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect” (Luke 12:40).
By Paulson Pulikottil
The second coming of Jesus Christ is the ultimate hope for his followers, a hope that sustains us through the trials of this life as we eagerly anticipate the glorious comfort that awaits. His return will signal the end of evil’s dominion and usher in a new era of peace. Love will triumph over hatred, and healing will replace every pain. The prophet Isaiah vividly depicted this moment, saying:
“And he will swallow up on this mountain the covering that is cast over all peoples, the veil that is spread over all nations. He will swallow up death forever; and the Lord GOD will wipe away tears from all faces, and the reproach of his people he will take away from all the earth, for the LORD has spoken” (Isa 25:7—8).
Even creation itself longs for this restoration, as the Apostle Paul describes: “The creation itself will be set free from its bondage to corruption and obtain the freedom of the glory of the children of God” (Rom 8:21).
We long for that day, the beginning of a new age with Christ’s return. However, the timing remains a mystery. As Jesus said, his return will happen “at an hour you do not expect.” This unknown moment keeps every generation of believers in a state of readiness, always watching, always waiting. Every day should be lived in anticipation, hoping that tomorrow may be the day He comes again.
Let us be prepared, for the second coming of our Lord is imminent, and no day should pass without longing for his return.
