Search Window Remains Open
“Seek the LORD while he may be found; call upon him while he is near” (Isa 55:6).
By Paulson Pulikottil
Chapter 55 of the Book of Isaiah is a passionate invitation by the Lord to his people to a new relationship with him. They have sinned, and he has punished them to live in a foreign land as captives. However, his covenant with them is eternal. He invites them to see the punishment upon them within the framework of his never-changing love for them. “Incline your ear, and come to me; hear, that your soul may live; and I will make with you an everlasting covenant, my steadfast, sure love for David” (Isa 55:3).
The magnificent beauty of believing in one God and none other (monotheism) is experiencing the creator of the universe as the sole source of love, relationships, discipline, and restoration. God loves, so he disciplines. Since God has a relationship with those who fear him, he is also willing to restore relationships when his people are ready.
While people believing in a multitude of divinities move on from one God to another in constant search for the real good one, those who know the unchanging character of the God of the Bible must remain steadfast. He can be found and re-found; the search window is always open.
So, the Lord invites his people to find him even in darkness. Call upon him even when there is no apparent answer because his love never fails.
Don’t wait for clarity to seek the Lord—his invitation stands even in your confusion, pain, or silence. Lean in, listen, and call upon him now. Recommit to the One whose love is steadfast and whose covenant is everlasting. Share this message with someone who feels far from God, and let them know: the search window is still open.
