Practical Spiritual Growth Tips for Busy Mums
Are you a busy mum? Discover practical tips for busy mums to nurture their spiritual growth, stay connected with Jesus Christ, and find peace amidst daily chaos.

Being a mum is a full-time job that often leaves little room for personal time and spiritual growth. Between managing household chores, work, and the endless demands of children, finding time for prayer, Bible study, or quiet reflection can feel impossible. However, nurturing your faith is essential for maintaining inner peace, resilience, and strength. Here are some practical spiritual growth tips for busy mums to help you stay connected with Jesus Christ amidst the hustle and bustle of daily life.
Start Your Day with Prayer Beginning your day with prayer, even if it is just for a few minutes, can set a positive tone for the rest of the day. Jesus often withdrew to quiet places to pray, seeking strength and guidance from his Father. The Bible says, “Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed” (Mark 1:35). As a busy mum, you can take inspiration from this by dedicating the first moments of your day to connecting with God, asking for His wisdom, patience, and grace to navigate the day ahead.
Meditate on Bible Verses Throughout the Day Incorporating God’s Word into your daily routine can significantly enhance your spiritual growth. Keep a few Bible verses on your phone, fridge, or planner to meditate on during spare moments—whether you’re waiting in the car, cooking, or taking a quick break. Verses like “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13) can offer encouragement and remind you of Christ’s presence in every aspect of your busy life. These moments of reflection can be small but powerful ways to keep your focus on Jesus.
Create a Worship Atmosphere at Home Creating an atmosphere of worship at home is another way to nurture your spiritual growth. Play worship music in the background as you go about your day, sing along with your children, or use these moments to praise God in your heart. The Bible encourages us to “sing and make music from your heart to the Lord” (Ephesians 5:19). Worship does not have to be confined to a church setting; it can be woven into the fabric of your daily routine, uplifting your spirit and drawing you closer to God.
Join a Bible Study Group or Online Fellowship Finding fellowship with other Christian mums can provide much-needed spiritual support and encouragement. If attending a physical Bible study group is challenging due to your schedule, consider joining an online or virtual prayer meeting. Sharing your faith journey, praying together, and studying God’s Word with others can deepen your understanding and help you grow spiritually, even when you’re pressed for time. Jesus said, “For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them” (Matthew 18:20), reminding us of the power of community.
Practice Gratitude and Reflection Taking a few moments each day to reflect on your blessings can profoundly impact your spiritual growth. Keep a gratitude journal where you jot down small moments of joy, answered prayers, or simple blessings that you have experienced. The Bible says, “Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus” (1 Thessalonians 5:18). This practice helps you to stay connected to God’s goodness, even on the most hectic days.
Spiritual growth as a busy mum does not require large blocks of time; it is about inviting Jesus Christ into your everyday moments and making space for his presence. Through prayer, worship, Bible meditation, fellowship, and gratitude, you can nurture your faith amidst the chaos of motherhood. Remember, God meets you where you are; even the most minor steps towards Him can lead to profound spiritual growth. Let His light guides you as you navigate the beautiful yet busy journey of being a mum. (Hemamalini is from Chennai, Tamil Nadu, and she is passionate about writing and blogging.
