Citizens of the Unshakable Kingdom
“Therefore let us be grateful for receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, and thus let us offer to God acceptable worship, with reverence and awe” (Heb 12:28).

Political uncertainties and upheavals mark human history. The history of the great empires in ancient Egypt, Mesopotamia, Europe, and Asia has witnessed coups, assassinations of rulers, and governments thrown out of power through ballots and revolutions. Uncertainty has been the only constant in world history so far.
The Bible offers an alternate vision. That is the rule of God, popularly known as the Kingdom of God, where the Lord is the king eternal; His kingdom has no beginning or end.
Presently, the Kingdom of God is not a territory but God's rule in people's hearts. It is established as individuals submit themselves to God and are guided by God's truth. It has no borders since it is spread over people's hearts from various cultures, races, and languages worldwide. When each individual turns to Jesus, the Lord expands its spread.
The Kingdom of God now exists alongside the other human dominions. But the Bible tells us that the expanding Kingdom of God will one day consume all the kingdoms of this world. The writer of the Book of Revelations anticipates this moment: “Then the seventh angel blew his trumpet, and there were loud voices in heaven, saying, “The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Christ, and he shall reign forever and ever” (Rev 11:15).
We are waiting for that moment when there will be only God's rule and no other authority. When tired of this world's reigns, we have hope that as people who have accepted Jesus as the King, we are people with a privilege. We have received a Kingdom that will not be shaken.
The foundations of any country may rock and collapse. But heaven's citizens know the Kingdom they hope for will never totter. Paul encouraged the church in Philippi and us to be citizens of heaven, where Jesus, our Lord, is King. He will soon take complete control over the world’s systems!
