Witness and Praise God's Mighty Works
“O LORD, you are my God; I will exalt you; I will praise your name, for you have done wonderful things, plans formed of old, faithful and sure” (Isa 25:1).
By Paulson Pulikottil
Worship may take many forms—prayers, singing, or other forms—but the core of worship is adoring the Lord as he has revealed himself to us. Isaiah exalts the Lord as the performer of wonders. The adjective for “wonderful” refers to God's acts. It could be the astounding cosmos that God created—the constellation, its planets, and its orderly movements: “Lift up your eyes on high and see: who created these? He who brings out their host by number, calling them all by name; by the greatness of his might and because he is strong in power, not one is missing” (Isaiah 40:26).
Wonders are acts beyond human capability and what God alone could do. They are not limited to the cosmic realm; they manifest in the ordinary lives of the people of God as well. God, creator of the wonders of the cosmos, also divided the Red Sea to deliver them from Pharaoh, split the rock to provide water, delivered them from the enemies, and so on.
Adoring the Lord for the wonderful things he did in their lives formed the kernel of Israel's worship, as they praised him, “the who alone does great wonders, For his steadfast love endures forever” (Psalm 136:4). Since the Lord does wonders without assistance, all glory belongs to him.
The wonders that the Lord performs are not accidents. He had planned them “from of old.” However, the miracles in our lives may surprise us, not the Lord. They have been in his planning for years, implying that he cared for us even before we began worrying about specific situations. He had planned a way out before we reached the dead end.
Worship is to exalt the Lord for his power to break through apparent dead ends, his thoughtfulness, and being there for us when there was none.
As you reflect on the wonders the Lord has performed throughout history and your life, I urge you to take a moment each day to express your adoration and gratitude through worship. Whether through prayer, song, or acts of kindness, let your heart overflow with awe and praise for the one who has meticulously planned and executed such miraculous deeds. Join a community of believers, share your testimonies, and inspire others to recognise and celebrate the mighty works of God. Let worship become a daily practice that deepens your relationship with the Lord and magnifies his glory in your life.
Do not wait to take the next step in your faith journey—commit to regular worship today. Seek opportunities to witness God’s wonders, and let his steadfast love move you to live a life of continuous praise. Your worship can make a profound difference, not only in your own life but also in those around you.
