Confident in the Lord
“My help comes from the LORD, who made heaven and earth” (Psa 121:2, see also Psa 124:8).
By Paulson Pulikottil
Fear is often associated with the future. That future may be the next moment, years or decades away from the present. Fear is the thought that something harmful, which we cannot handle on our own, may occur.
This is where faith in God helps us overcome fears. Faith is the conviction that God is stronger and wiser than we are and is always there for us. On the contrary, fear is the lack of faith; it reckons only on our power and wisdom and finds them inadequate for the future we anticipate.
The Bible opens with the statement that God created everything. This statement affirms God’s power and control over the world, which readers should be aware of. Nothing is outside the control of the creator God. Everything that happens and will happen in the remaining sixty-six books is the logical outcome of this truth.
Fear has no place when we realise we live in God’s world. But when we think that we live in a world of self-achievement, we tend to realise that we cannot handle the unpredictable future.
Fear stems from weak faith and weakens our enthusiasm for the future. The Lord we trust for our future created every hill in our way. He knows the way around or over them.
Whenever fear clouds your heart, remember whose world you live in. Place your future in the hands of the Creator who made every hill and path before you. Choose faith over fear today and walk forward, knowing God is already with you.
