The Faithful One
“But the Lord is faithful. He will establish you and guard you against the evil one” (2 Thess 3:3).
By Paulson Pulikottil
To say that the Lord is faithful means that he always keeps his promises and does what he says He will do. He never lies, deceives, or changes his mind. On the contrary, he is consistent, reliable, and trustworthy. He is faithful to his character, his word, and his people.
The Lord’s faithfulness is demonstrated throughout the Bible, from the world’s creation to fulfilling his plan of salvation. He is faithful to his covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. He is devoted to delivering his people from slavery in Egypt and bringing them to the promised land. He faithfully sends prophets, judges, and kings to guide and protect his people. God sent his Son, Jesus Christ, to die for our sins and rise again. He faithfully sends His Spirit, the Comforter, to empower and teach us. He is faithful in preserving his church throughout history and preparing a place for us in heaven.
The Lord’s faithfulness is also evident in our personal lives. He is faithful in loving us unconditionally and forgiving us completely. He is devoted to providing for our needs and protecting us from harm. He is loyal to guide us with His wisdom and correct us with his discipline. He is faithful to comfort us in our troubles and heal us from our wounds. He is devoted to giving us gifts and talents and helping us use them for his glory. He is faithful in working all things together for our good and conforming us to the image of his Son.
God’s faithfulness is a source of hope, joy, and peace. We can trust him with all our hearts and lean not on our understanding. We can rely on him in every situation and circumstance. We can rest in him, knowing he will never leave or forsake us. We can praise him for his great faithfulness that reaches to the skies.
The Lord is faithful. This is a beautiful truth that we can celebrate and share with others. Let us thank him for His faithfulness today and every day.
Take a moment today to reflect on God's unwavering faithfulness in your life. Thank him, trust him, and share his goodness with someone who needs encouragement. Let his consistency anchor your heart in every season.
