The Gift of Waiting: Trusting God’s Perfect Timing
“The LORD is good to those who wait for him, to the soul who seeks him. It is good that one should wait quietly for the salvation of the LORD” (Lamentations 3:25—26).
By Paulson Pulikottil
Waiting feels like a bad word in a world of instant noodles and on-demand coffee. Our patience wears thin fast, and we easily lose our temper when things are not immediate. We have come to expect results now, not later.
But the truth is—life does not work that way.
Grape juice does not become wine overnight. It takes time to ferment, mature, and develop its full richness. And the best wine? It is the one that is the longest-lasting. You cannot microwave that process. Some things—especially the best things—cannot be rushed.
So why is waiting so hard?
Because it is uncertain, we do not know how things will turn out. We wonder: Is this wait a waste of time? Will I be disappointed in the end? That fear of the unknown makes waiting feel frustrating—even frightening.
But waiting on the Lord is different.
It is not in vain. It is not empty. And it is never pointless. God does not delay out of indifference, but because he is working on a bigger, better plan that unfolds in his time, not ours.
Christian maturity means learning to trust this:
That God's silence is not absence,
His delay is not denial,
And His timing is always perfect.
To wait on the Lord is not to sit in fear or frustration, but to rest in hope. Because the One we are waiting on is merciful, faithful, and always working for our good.
So, keep praying, keep trusting, and when the waiting feels long, remember that He is never late.
